April 30: Dandy

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Saturday, April 30, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

All the recent rain mixed with today's sun has created the perfect yellow storm: dandelions!  The happy little weeds are popping up everywhere. My 3 year old daughter thinks they're awesome.  My lawn loving hubby, however, doesn't share her optimistic view.

April 29: Love is in the Air

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Friday, April 29, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Now that the weather is starting to warm up a bit, my son loves spending hours outdoors. Today he came running up to me with a fist full of daffodils. "These are for you Mom!" he grinned while on bended knee. "I love you." "I love you too," I beamed back.  It's a small Spring moment I'll squirrel away in my heart forever.

April 28: WINDY!!!

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Friday, April 29, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Wind gusts overnight knocked down my favorite cherry tree.  A handful of buds had just burst into bloom, and their sweet, faint scent left me melancholy.  This tree has the sweetest cherries I've ever tasted. But now I worry  I'll never get to savor them again.

April 27: Warm, Windy & Wet

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Mucky! What a muddy mess.  But it's 75 out, so flip flops are so in order.  Only thing is, walking through the yard in flip flops today has its consequences...

April 26: Day After the Storm

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

I have a new pond in the backyard!  We got more than 3 inches of rain yesterday.  The ground was already saturated from all the rain we've had over the past couple of weeks, so the new rain just decided to congregate in tiny ponds anywhere it could.  This is the field behind my house.  It's usually just draped in grass and dandelions.  But the new pond is a lovely addition.

April 25: Mud Puddles

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Monday, April 25, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

All this rain is really making a mess out of the back yard.  The mud puddles are like rabbits: they keep multiplying and growing every day.  If it's true that April showers bring May flowers, than next month my yard's going to rival the Rose Bowl Parade.

April 24: Easter

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Monday, April 25, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Easter is a day symbolizing rebirth.  New life born from death.  The skies may be gray. The ground muddy.  But that dreary back drop is the perfect canvas to highlight the beauty of the crocus, daffodil and forsythia.

April 23: Super Duper

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Monday, April 25, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Man what a day.  Spent the daylight hours mulching in the sweet sunshine.  Spent the evening on a group bike ride along the lake.  One day like this almost makes up for the weather of the past week. Almost.

April 22 Crainy

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Friday, April 22, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Crainy is a word I made up.  It means cold and rainy.  Crainy.  Use it in a sentence?   Sure.  "It sure is crainy out today." It sure is.

April 21: Hope

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Thursday, April 21, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Today's weather gives me hope.  Hope the part of Spring that's worth celebrating is just about to kick the part of Spring that sucks out of the way.  A spear of brilliant sunlight pierced the dingy skies this morning.  And the daffodils are once again reminding me that in even our darkest, coldest, bleakest times... something better is just around the corner.

April 20: Crappy

Posted by Katherine Boyd on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, In : Cleveland Weather

Ah, April in Cleveland.  It's so darn crappy out. It's gray. And raining. And cold.  Last night, a clap of thunder slapped me right out of a deep slumber, just in time to hear the golfball sized hail slam into my new $6500 roof. Super
